Taking Control!
Summer is fading quickly, but it isn't over just yet. I was able to travel this summer and also do a lot of reflecting and planning for the upcoming school year. I was forced to be immobile, due to a minor foot surgery. During my mending process I organized my thoughts and ideas for the upcoming school year. One topic kept jumping out at me. A topic I always struggled with....Classroom management!
Classroom Management has always been my biggest downfall, but this year I am committing to a new plan and keeping my fingers crossed. This year I am excited to introduce the "chill out table". If a student receives a warning, and does not adjust their behavior they will go to the chill out table. Here they will fill out this sheet, take deep breaths, massage the stress ball and sit for the allotted 5 minutes until they can "chill out" and make smart choices. I will laminate this sheet below, so that it stays at the table with the calming tools and can be reused! The most difficult thing with classroom management is sticking to it. Being an Encore teacher, the time runs out and the pace is rapid during each class period. This year I must keep expectations clear and consequences firm.
